Habit Heist  ·  Last updated: June 7, 2025

🔒 Your data never leaves your device.

Your habits, streaks, loot, and health data stay on your iPhone. We — the developers — never see, store, or touch any of it. Ever.

What Data the App Uses

Habit Heist only touches data that is necessary for the game to work. Here is exactly where each piece lives:

🏃
Apple Health data On-device only
Habit Heist reads your step count, active calories, sleep analysis, and exercise minutes from Apple Health — only to calculate whether your daily habits are complete. This data is never sent anywhere. We read it; we never write to it.
🎮
Game progress & habit data On-device only
Your habits, streaks, loot vault, gold, XP, and player level are stored locally using Apple's SwiftData framework. This data never leaves your device unless you have iCloud enabled, in which case it syncs privately through your own iCloud account.
📊
Usage analytics On-device only
The app logs anonymous in-game events (e.g. "habit completed", "room entered") to help us understand how the game is played. These events are stored only on your device and are never transmitted to any server.
🏆
Game Center scores Via Apple
If you are signed in to Game Center, your leaderboard scores (longest streak, weekly gold) are submitted to Apple's Game Center service. This is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. We receive no personal information from this — only the anonymous score submission.
💳
Subscription purchases Via Apple
Purchases are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We receive only an anonymous confirmation that a valid subscription exists — never your name, email, or payment details.
☁️
iCloud Sync Your iCloud, not ours
Plus subscribers can sync game progress across devices via their personal iCloud account. This is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. We have zero access to your iCloud data.

What We Do NOT Collect

To be completely clear, Habit Heist does not:

Apple Health — Special Note

Access to Apple Health is entirely optional. If you decline Health permissions, all habits can still be completed manually by tapping them in the app. Health access is used only to auto-detect habit completion — it is never used for any other purpose and is never shared.

You can revoke Health access at any time: Settings → Privacy & Security → Health → Habit Heist.

iCloud & Apple's Role

The only data that ever leaves your device goes to your own personal iCloud account via Apple's infrastructure. This sync is optional and controlled entirely by you in your iOS Settings. Apple's handling of iCloud data is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.

Children's Privacy

Habit Heist does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children under 13. Since no personal data is collected or transmitted, the app is safe for all ages from a data privacy standpoint.

Changes to This Policy

If we ever add features that change how data is handled, we will update this page and note the change in the App Store release notes before it takes effect. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will always reflect the most recent revision.
