What Data the App Uses

Gratitudes Jar stores only the content you choose to write. Here is exactly where each piece of data lives:

Your gratitude entries On-device only

Saved locally on your iPhone using Apple's SwiftData framework. If you are signed into iCloud, they sync privately through your own iCloud account — we have no access to this data whatsoever.

Your display name On-device only

The name you set in Settings (e.g. "Friend") is stored only in your device's local preferences. It never leaves your phone.

AI features On-device only

Writing suggestions, daily prompts, and affirmations are generated by Apple Intelligence — a model that runs entirely on your device. Your text is never sent to any server, including ours.

Subscription purchases Via Apple

Purchases are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We receive only an anonymous confirmation that a valid subscription exists — never your name, email, or payment details.

iCloud Sync Your iCloud, not ours

If enabled, your entries sync across your own Apple devices via your personal iCloud account. This is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. We have no access to your iCloud data.

What We Do NOT Collect

To be completely clear, Gratitudes Jar does not:

Collect your email address or any contact information
Use any analytics, tracking, or advertising SDKs
Track how you use the app or how long you use it
Send any data to our servers (we don't have one)
Share any information with third parties
Use cookies or any web-based tracking
Access your location, contacts, camera, or microphone

iCloud & Apple's Role

The only data that leaves your device goes to your own personal iCloud account via Apple's infrastructure. This sync is optional and controlled entirely by you in your iOS Settings. Apple's handling of iCloud data is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.

Children's Privacy

Gratitudes Jar does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under 13. Since no data is collected at all, the app is safe for all ages from a data privacy standpoint.

Changes to This Policy

If we ever add features that change how data is handled, we will update this page and notify users through the App Store release notes before any change takes effect. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will always reflect the most recent revision.
